If you’ve built something in Lovable and want to share it with the world, the first step is getting it off the default yoursite.lovable.app subdomain and onto your own branded domain.
A custom domain instantly:
I’ll walk you through exactly how to connect your domain to a Lovable project, what the requirements are, and a few gotchas you might run into along the way.
Lovable does a solid job, but you’ll see that they keep certain features locked behind their paid plan (like custom domains), whereas other apps include a bunch of those things out of the box. So if you’re still deciding where to build, maybe a Lovable alternative might save your time.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to connect your domain to Lovable.
Before you start, make sure you’ve got these covered:
Lovable uses a tool called Entri to help connect your domain. With some providers (like Namecheap or GoDaddy), Entri can do the DNS work automatically. If your provider isn’t supported, you’ll just copy the DNS records over manually.
Quick note: In Shipper, domains also require a paid plan (fair’s fair), but DNS management is smoother. You get guided setup inside the app, and we throw in things like SSL certificates by default (no extra clicks).

In Lovable, go to Settings > Domains, enter your domain, pick your provider, and connect via Entri or manual DNS records. Once DNS updates (usually within a few hours), your site will be live on your custom domain.
To put it simpler, follow these steps:
That’s it. Most domains go live in a few hours, but it can take up to 48.
You don’t have to keep your app on Lovable’s servers.
You can export your project to GitHub and host it wherever you like:
With Shipper you don’t need to jump through these steps.
Projects are instantly live on a Shipper subdomain, and you can point your own domain in a few clicks without exporting to GitHub.

To delete a custom domain in Lovable, go to Settings → Domains, select your domain, and click Remove. Your project will switch back to the free .lovable.app subdomain automatically.
If you no longer want your project linked to a custom domain, you can remove it in a few steps:
After this, your site will go back to using the free .lovable.app subdomain.

CNAME for www and A or ALIAS for root).Everything above shows you how to get domains working in Lovable. It does the job, but if you’re still in the stage of picking the right tool, it might help to know how Shipper handles this too.

I’ve tried both Lovable and Shipper, and here’s what stood out to me with Shipper:
If you’re already on Lovable, the steps above will work fine. But if you’re exploring tools, Shipper’s domain flow feels lighter and faster — and you get a few extras along the way.

Subscribe to a paid plan, go to Settings → Domains, enter your domain, and connect it via Entri or manual DNS records. Once DNS propagates, your Lovable app will be live on your custom domain.
This usually happens because DNS changes haven’t fully propagated (can take up to 48h) or the records were entered incorrectly. Double-check your A and CNAME records, and make sure your domain is still linked inside Lovable’s settings.
| Issue | What It Means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| DNS still propagating | It can take up to 24–48 hours for DNS changes to update worldwide | Wait and check again later (use a tool like whatsmydns.net to track progress) |
| Wrong DNS records | A or CNAME records don’t match what Lovable provided | Recheck Lovable’s instructions and correct the records in your domain registrar |
| Domain not added in Lovable | The domain wasn’t actually connected inside your project settings | Go to Settings → Domains and make sure it’s listed as “Connected” |
| SSL not provisioned yet | The secure certificate is still being issued | Wait a few hours; Lovable auto-generates SSL after domain is verified |
| Conflicting DNS setup | Old records (like for email or another host) are overriding | Clean up unused A/CNAME records and keep MX records for email intact |
| Plan expired or downgraded | Custom domains are only on paid plans | Renew or upgrade your Lovable subscription |
| Cached browser error | Browser is showing an outdated connection attempt | Clear cache or test in an incognito window |
Once you cancel, your project will lose access to paid features, including the custom domain. Your site will no longer stay live on your domain — it will revert back to the default .lovable.app subdomain.
To keep your own domain connected, you’ll need an active paid plan.
